Prior to YouMail, Alex co-founded and was the CEO of Quack.com, which provided a consumer voice portal service that was essentially SIRI over a 1-800 number back before there were smart phones. AOL acquired Quack for $200 million in August, 2000, just 18 months after it was founded. At AOL, Alex was a Vice President of Voice Services, where he helped drive the division to multiple product launches and over 1 million paying subscribers and over $50 million in annual revenue. Alex holds a PhD in Computer Science from UCLA, and is the co-inventor on 4 patents.
Mike leads R&D, engineering and products at YouMail. He's been applying his expertise in high-scale distributed platforms and customer-centric product design to multiple businesses and industries over the past nineteen years. Prior to joining the YouMail team, Mike served as VP, Director or Chief Architect at a number of LA and OC companies including LogicalApps, First Advantage, US Search, Cipient Systems, Mindshare and QDS. As a serial entrepreneur, Mike has directly participated in over a dozen southern California start-ups since he graduated with a BS in Computer Science & Engineering from UCLA.
In addition to leading financial operations at YouMail, Tom is also CFO to Silvertip Partners Inc, MojoPages.com, and Zoovy Inc where he has successfully raised venture capital for each. He has over 10 years of experience in software development and implementation as a CFO for contract software developers, offshore outsourcing and captive in-house development companies.Tom also graduated from UCLA. Prior to YouMail, Freddy was the Senior Technology Engineer at Openlogic Inc where he managed server infrastructure including performance monitoring, tuning, and upgrades. Freddy also secured new clients as the technical sales consultant using his expertise in database design, architecture, and performance tuning. Freddy graduated from the Sør-Trøndelag University College in Norway.
YouMail Board Members
Bill has been a Managing Director with VantagePoint Capital Partners since 2007. Prior to VantagePoint, he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley & Co. and President of Morgan Stanley Venture Partners. Before Morgan Stanley, Bill was General Partner of several venture capital partnerships affiliated with J. H. Whitney & Co. Bill is a graduate of the University of Arizona (BS and MS) and Arizona State University (PhD). He also served as an officer in the Military Intelligence Branch of the United States Army Reserve.
Chad Cooper is the CEO of Digital Offering, a technology-driven merchant bank. He has more than 15 years' experience in the investment banking and capital markets industry. From 2002-2011, Mr. Cooper worked at Roth Capital Partners, where he ultimately became a Partner and the Director of Institutional Sales. Mr. Cooper also manages DO Capital Management, a family office that actively invests personal assets in micro-cap and small-cap companies. Mr. Cooper currently sits on the Board of Directors of ARI Network Services, Inc., (NASDAQ: ARIS), Research Solutions (OTCQB: RSSS), and-Wings for Crossover, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Mr. Cooper has a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California, and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University.
Eric Ver Ploeg is a member of the Company’s Board of Directors. Eric has been an active venture investor and entrepreneur for two decades. After co-founding two venture-backed startups, he was a Managing Director at VantagePoint Venture Partners, where he led investments into OZ Communications (acquired by Nokia), Spatial Wireless (acquired by Alcatel-Lucent), and YouMail. He also founded Recursive Capital, a quantitative hedge fund. Eric holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA, both from Stanford University.
Since 2002, he has been a Managing Director of AEi Systems, a world leader in analysis of space power and other systems requiring high reliability. Prior to that, he was co-founder and CEO of Sales Mountain, a mobile and internet infomediary.
