What is Smart Greeting and how do I use it?
Smart Greeting is the newest way to personalize your voicemail with YouMail! Your Smart Default Greeting will
greet your callers with their first name if it is one of the thousands of names that YouMail recognizes.
For example, if your name is Bob and your caller's name is John, it will play:
"Hello John, Bob can't get to the phone right now, please leave a message."
Smart Greeting will be played to your contacts who do not have a personal greeting and to your other callers who are not your contacts.
With Smart Greeting, you can give all your calls a personal touch your callers will appreciate and remember! If your name or any of your contact's name is not recognized by YouMail, simply send an email to support@youmail.com or fill out our Support Request form.
Unfortunately, you cannot use smart greeting if your default greeting is the YouMail basic greeting.
Note: To add new names to the smart greeting, YouMail pays the "YouMail voice" to record each name "just right" - which has has gotten really expensive.
As a result, we now only record new names for paying YouMail users, either on YouMail Pro or one of transcription plans .
