I bought a new phone, how do I set it up in YouMail?
When you get a new phone, you need to do three things:
- Make sure YouMail knows about it. If it's a new number, just add it to your existing account. If it's a different model (you traded in your Blackberry for an iPhone) or a different carrier, tell us the new model or the new carrier.
- If you have a Blackberry, iPhone, or Android phone, download the YouMail app.
- Make sure your calls are being forwarded to YouMail.
- If it's an iPhone, just find "activate YouMail" in your contact list, and dial it.
- If it's a Blackberry, go the setting menu [whatever it is]
- If it's an Android phone, go to help/... [whatever it is]
On any other phone, or if you're not running a YouMail app, just take a minute to reprogram your phone.
To add a new phone to your existing account:
- Click on the My Account link at the upper right corner of the screen.
- Click on the My Phones link at left menu.
- Click on the Add a new phone to my account link above your current phone's image.
- Enter a nickname for your new phone.
- Enter your new phone number.
- Click on the [Next] button.
- If you're adding a cell phone number:
- The activation code will be sent to your cell phone.
- Check the activation code in your cell phone.
- Enter the activation code that is sent to your cell phone.
- If you're adding a land line phone number:
- Click on the 'dial a special number' link to view the access phone number to activate your land line phone.
- Dial 1-424-202-6868.
- You will hear a message confirming that the phone number you entered has been verified.
- Click on the [Complete Activation] button.
- Select your phone model.
- If none of the phone model displaying does not match your phone:
- Click on the 'select a different manufacturer' link.
- Select the closest phone model that matched your phone.
- Select "Other" if none matched your phone.
- Click on the [Continue] button.
- Follow the instructions on how to forward your messages to YouMail.
- Click on the [Next] button then click on [Done] when you're finished with the forwarding setup.
- Your new phone is now added to your YouMail account.
- Click on the 'Make New Phone my default phone number' link at the right of your new phone if you want your new phone to be your default phone.
To remove your old phone from your YouMail account:
- Click on the My Account link at the upper right corner of the screen.
- Click on the My Phones link at left menu.
- Click on the 'Remove this phone from my account' link at the right of your old phone.
To update your phone's carrier:
- Click on the My Account link at the upper right corner of the screen.
- Click on the My Phones link at left menu.
- Click on the 'Change my carrier' link.
- Select your new phone's carrier from the drop-down.
- Click on the [Save Changes] button.
- You will have to confirm receipt of text messages if you would want to receive text alerts in your cell phone:
- Click on the 'Confirm Now >>' link.
- The activation code will be sent to your cell phone.
- Enter the activation code.
- Click on the [Confirm Activation Code] button.
- You will now receive text message alerts when you receive a voice message for this phone.
To update your phone model:
- Click on the My Account link at the upper right corner of the screen.
- Click on the My Phones link at left menu.
- Click on the 'Change my phone model' link.
- Select the closest phone model that match your phone.
It displays phone models that are available in your current phone carrier. - Click on the [Continue] button.
- Follow the instruction on how to setup your call forwarding to YouMail.
- Click on the [Next] button.
- Click on the [Done] button when you are done setting up the call forwarding.
