How do I use audio from the community as a ringtone?

YouMail provides a very basic mechanism to get audio from our community to your phone so that you can set it as a ringtone.

We simply use an SMS Text Message to send your phone a link from where you can download the audio file. This will, of course, require that your phone has both an SMS plan and a Data plan in order to receive the text message and then download the file.

Most phone models will let you click on the hyperlink in the text message, and this will launch either your phone's default web browser or your phone's default media player.

Some phones are trickier than others on how to take audio you are listening to, and then set it as your current ringtone. The following are some basic guidelines for common phones.

BlackBerry Bold

  1. When you receive the TXT message from YouMail, use your wheel mouse to point at the hyperlink to the audio and click the wheel mouse once
  2. Once the audio loads in your web browser, click your BlackBerry's menu key (the one with 4 dots), this will open up a menu.
  3. Scroll down in the menu to Set As Ringtone and click the wheel mouse once to set as your ringtone.
