Transcription - How it works and Privacy
YouMail gets nearly perfect transcriptions every time by having "humans in the loop":
- We send the audio to a transcription partner.
- The partner usually uses a machine to transcribe it.
- Professional transcribers use that as a starting point to get a very accurate transcription.
Our partners vary in exactly how they work:
- Some score the automated transcription and only fix up the ones that score poorly.
- Some send pieces of the message to different transcribers and then piece the result back together.
Your privacy is ensured in several ways.
- The transcribers only have an audio file (no other information about you)
- Voicemails are randomized, so it's extremely rare the same transcriber gets more than one of your voicemails.
-
All transcribers have signed agreements to preserve privacy with material penalties for violating it, similar to what is used in the medical industry to transcribe medical records.
(Note: Our transcription partners are either HIPAA compliant or have their human transcribers sign non-disclosure agreements that are very similar) - The transcribers never know if the audio message is real or a joke. (Hi Barack, this is Michelle calling and boy am I mad...)
